Answer: Wound administration includes a fruitful appraisal of the size, profundity and presence of the injury and its compelling treatment (Stevens et al., 2014). This article will concentrate on an injury the executives contextual analysis. Betadine is a disinfectant medication comprised of povidone-iodine used to treat minor skin contaminations and wounds (Ward Sr Corey, 2014). For the situation, Mr. Jones twisted should be dealt with post a careful spearing of a 12*11mm cutaneous boil, shaped because of activity of MRSA microbes. Nonetheless, the medical attendant can't help contradicting the proposal of the specialist for utilizing betadine for wound recuperating. A randomized controlled preliminary directed among 22 subjects tried the results of nectar dressing and povdione-iodine dressings and estimated the recuperating at a time period weeks. 7 subjects demonstrated total recuperating in nectar dressing bunch contrasted with none in the betadine gathering (Gulati et al., 2014). Further, contemplates have demonstrated clashing outcomes that propose that betadine makes poisonous impacts on mucous films and enormous open injuries (Huynh et al., 2014). The harmful impacts of betadine were shown on epithelia HeLa cells an expansion in poisonousness was displayed as upregulation in apoptosis at focuses that were low than the clinical dosages (Sato et al., 2014). Medications like heroin and morphine, among others despite the fact that gives relief from discomfort however they influence the invulnerable framework. People who ingest medications experience the ill effects of inadequate injury conclusion and are exceptionally helpless to contamination. Heroin dependent patients experience the ill effects of contaminated non-healin wounds. Immunosuppression postpones the enlistment of safe cells and further deferring wound conclusion and bacterial leeway (Abavare, 2012). Unhealthiness causes metabolic modifications that influence wound mending. Nutrient C and An are required for collagen union and epitheliazation, while zinc is fundamental for cell mitosis and expansion (Deer Stewart, 2016). Along these lines, from the above confirmations it very well may be reasoned that the medical attendant has shown a decent conduct in not holding fast to the directions of utilizing betadine for wound recuperating attributable to its harmful impacts on tissues. Specifically, he made this point by introducing the two sides of the discussion, without making the end himself. Along this paper will be perceived how he contends both for the dismissal and acknowledgment of the hypothesis proposed by Pascal and the alleged distribution of the equivalent. Martin uses the hypothesis of Pascal in outlining this point. Pascal made a tremendous research on the birthplace of HIV (both HIV 1 and HIV 2) and based on the equivalent and of his insight expressed that the infection began from the development of the polio immunization, especially refined through monkeysââ¬â¢ kidneys. The mass immunization among Africans is said to have begun this all and its spread all through the nations was made conceivable through various methods of move. The result of the said explore anyway was not put in distribution; it was dismissed by logical social orders which is as it should be. Logical diaries declined distribution of any of Pascalââ¬â¢s looks into and examination for various reasons. It tends to be noted anyway that a couple of marketing specialists considered giving it a possibility, taking into account that Pascal made an exhaustive examination focusing on his point clear, all around bolstered by suitable observational proof. Martin had the option to gather data both for and against the distribution of the equivalent. The purpose of the examiner in introducing the case is to pass on the two sides of the contention; the debate being the suitability of the non-distribution of Pascalââ¬â¢s hypothesis by science advocates. In this manner, he assembled proof and defenses which support the non-distribution thereof, acquiring proof by interviews, composed records and such of the individuals who bolster the recommendation. Similarly, he accumulated bits of proof which bolster the view for the distribution of the hypothesis. This is a compelling method of introducing a contextual analysis. It is to be noticed that the examiner never accentuated his own conclusion on the propriety of the non-distribution or the distribution of the equivalent, rather, he gave exactness and supremacy the ratiocination of the advocates of the two sides, indicating the least, if by any stretch of the imagination, any predispositions. While the examiner presents the hypothesis supporting the individual cases of the defenders of the two sides, he has an alternate reason in making the paper. Over the span of the conversation, he underlines however the pertinence, significance and criticalness of being a non fanatic and without mediation in making the paper. In putting forth the defense study, he uses the methods of meetings, correspondence, get-together of composed proof and archives and especially utilizes social associations with get the important data supporting the two suggestions. In supporting his suggestion on non-mediation and his being non-divided, that is, by introducing the two sides of the story, he pushes both the points of interest and drawbacks of the debate. Restricting or supporting one side of the discussion, let say, being a factional over the span of the contextual analysis, Martin opined this may prompt constrained wellsprings of data and along these lines the difficulty of getting a progressively learned supposition and unprejudiced articulations. In addition, along the course of the examination, Martin verifiably expressed that so as to fulfill the reason for which the contextual investigation is composed, the equivalent must be available to all roads of talking about the contentions and permitting further investigations on the issue when appropriate. Prior to continuing to the following subject, it is imperative to note now of the conversation, the distinction on what the expert needs to pass on to the perusing open when all is said in done, and what his point is. Concerning the open who peruses or who will endeavor to peruse his works, he has satisfied the obligation of introducing the debate, that is, regardless of whether the hypothesis of Pascal and everything that underpins thereto, ought to be distributed. The two sides of the debate are introduced by falling back on the ratiocinations and avocations of the defenders of each side. Then again, by being the examiner, he introduced an alternate method of moving toward the paper. At first, he talks about the discussion that he needs to pass on to the understanding open. From that point, he talks about the importance of getting data by falling back on every conceivable mean of doing likewise. He for sure, approaches various wellsprings of data and benefits of all these in thinking of the contextual analysis. His point might not have been comprehended in the perspective of the perusers thinking about that the perusers may comprehend it as stressing and supporting the hypothesis of Pascal, be that as it may, his point as the examiner here is the accentuation of non-partisanship in ready to introduce a contextual investigation that answers the two sides of the discussion. Interlaced with the contextual investigation, Martin talks about the importance and social ramifications of the discussion. Numerous science advocates have rejected the distribution on the hypothesis of Pascal with respect to the starting point of the HIV and how it spreads all through the different nations on the planet, then again, a couple of them have upheld that without a doubt there is a need to impact the distribution of the work. Among the importance and social ramifications of is the clinical mindfulness, wellbeing and security among people groups. Valid, and truly, there has been a require the arrangement of HIV as a stellar ailment. By permitting a distribution of such kind, considering further on the capabilities of Pascal and the broad research he has made on the issue, it opens the chance of permitting a top to bottom and increasingly exhaustive examination of the sources, reasons for the executioner illness to spare existences of the individuals and give adequate cure that is close enough for those beset and a method of anticipation to the remainder of the world. Likewise, Martinââ¬â¢s move of gathering all bits of proof to help the two recommendations opens the door for additional investigation on the current issue. The spread of the presence of the hypothesis of Pascal and the conversation made by Martin on it stirs the questions and such different inquiries that my have importance on the veracity of the issue. In such manner, science advocates are subsequently allowed the chance to disprove such a broad research made by Pascal. Thusly, more explores will be made, an increasingly broad one basing on further developed innovation and data towards the disclosure and even the fix of HIV today. By distribution, a specialist or researcher at that is allowed the chance to educate general society regarding the results and status of recent developments and their suggestions on society. Similarly, the conversation working on it study made by Martin had opened the doors of investigation of motivation to come in permitting a more critical look on the veracity and honesty of what has been examined by Pascal in his hypothesis. In the way of introducing the contextual analysis, the creator is reflexive in examining point by point his contention. He considers every single imaginable point that might be contended by some who have restricting perspectives on his conversation. In especially, staying alert that his endeavor to disclose to distribute the hypothesis of Pascal would get the two reactions, thankfulness and endorsement, by remembering it for the current contextual investigation, Martin presents the contentions of the individuals who have dismissed the possibility of distribution and moreover the individuals who have affirmed the equivalent. This is an endeavor to counter progress of time potential resistances that advocates on the contention may intervene. From the conversation, it very well may be seen his attention to safeguard all simultaneously the hypothesis of Pascal, which isn't simply because of his amazing capabilities on the current issue yet additionally based on the broad research and information on the creator on the issue; and in like manner the contentions possibly in support of the distribution. This didn't anyway successfully abandon the chance of further examination and research thinking about that each contention especially where social pertinence is high is included. In entirety, the contextual investigation is both an endeavor to distribute what in any case would not have permitted distribution as on account of the hypothesis of Pascal; and simultaneously an endeavor to talk about the significance of having the option to acquire all data conceivable to emphasize the point. The contextual analysis is a blend of logical examination as an issue of substance and as an issue of technique. Martin, as the investigator, emphasizes the two focuses by guaranteeing an intensive conversation on the meaningful part of the logical suggestion of Pascal and on the pertinence of having the option to accumulate data possibly in support of the equivalent. From the contextual investigation, it is seen that Martin had accomplished these two objectives simultaneously by the introduction of clashing contentions on a solitary issue worrying simultaneously the social pertinence of HIV not just in various places in Africa yet all through the world. In the perspective of the perusers, the contextual analysis has a logical pertinence, that is, the revelation of the source of HIV and the ensuing fix of the equivalent (albeit as of late, clinical science specialists have offered a fix of it). Then again, in the perspective of the expert, the contextual investigation comes in two sections, that is, the introduction of the logical significance of the then clinical discussion (which is as of now previously esteemed treatable) and the accentuation of having the option to get all data conceivable to get such data. Being a non-fanatic in reality permits access to the two sides of a story, and as an expert, Martin has recently viably done it! carmenlynch170http://www.blogger.com/profile/00500432836215808518noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4354958512235363352.post-51546975112361132922020-07-23T03:31:00.001-07:002020-07-23T03:31:02.767-07:00How to Write an Expository EssayHow to Write an Expository Essay Modern students have many written assignments to do because this type of tasks helps to evaluate students knowledge of a subject and improve their creative thinking and writing skills. So, here is the enumeration of necessary steps to create the elucidative composition: Select a topic. Donât know how to start an expository essay? As well as each piece of writing, this kind of composition starts from choosing a topic. So, if you have no ideas what topic to choose, you may apply these two techniques: Brainstorming. Try to improve your creativity by using this method because it can help you practically in each situation. You should think out at least ten topics for your future paper. The more, the better! Then, choose only one, which you like the most. Free writing. It is a kind of continuation of the previous method when you just take a sheet of paper and start writing everything that is coming to your head at this moment. With the help of this very method, you may find some interesting subjects to speak about, and then you may easily blot out the beginning of the text with full, undiluted nonsense. Create a thesis sentence. As you remember, the thesis sentence for this task must be clear and concise. It is the sentence that will clearly define the idea and the subject of the text, the so-called basis of your work that you should explain by suitable arguments and your own point of view. In terms of structure, it is important to give the thesis statement in the introductory paragraph of the paper. Select a method of development. There are several various methods to do the assignment of such kind. They are: Definition. Using this method, you will explain something by giving different definitions connected with the topic. Example. This technique is more persuasive than the first one because here you should show several typical examples of the explained phenomenon. Compare and contrast. This method is the simplest one because it is easier to elucidate some event by comparing it with something else. Cause and effect. This way is similar to the previous one, but you should just show the connection between causes and effects without any comparison. Classification. This way helps to elucidate some events by classifying them into different groups. Process analysis. This is one of the simplest and the most persuasive techniques to use for the explanation of various phenomena. Organize the essay. Topic sentences will be the bricks for your future body paragraphs. Donât forget that they must directly relate to the thesis statement of your work and support the standpoint. Note down the body. Make the body paragraphs of your composition. Such kind of paper, as well as others, has the five-paragraph structure with one paragraph to introduce the idea, three items to give different arguments, and one to conclude the paper. Dont forget to place the arguments supporting your idea in the right order: from the strongest to the weakest ones. Create the introduction. Sometimes it is very difficult to write the text from the beginning to the end, so it can be better to make body paragraphs first and then, when you will have a clear understanding of the main part of your composition, write the introduction itself. The introduction should contain the thesis statement, introduce the division of main parts of the text, and attract readersâ attention. Make the conclusion. The final part should stress the thesis statement once again and give the summary of your explanation that was proved by various evidence, which was given by you in the main part of the writing piece. Avoid adding any new information in the final part, because it should be clear and precise as well as other parts. So, try to make the last part efficient. Revise the composition. Revision is one of essential parts of the work if you want to have a good mark for the assignment. So, making the revision, you have an excellent opportunity to re-build and modify your composition to make it better. Mind the following points: Does the text have a good structure? Do all paragraphs look like finished pieces of text? Do you use necessary transitions between different parts of the work? Do you avoid going into unnecessary details and losing the focus of the text? Edit the text. Dont forget about another important part of perfect composition creation â" proofreading. Check spelling and comma use throughout the work; it would not go amiss. It is good to do it the next morning after you finish the writing itself, but you should have enough time for it, so dont procrastinate and try to organize the work in order to have a possibility to look through the text with a fresh eye. Mind the format. The layout of the paper itself is also very important if you want to have a good mark. The expository essay format usually meets the requirements of the Modern Language Association (MLA). Thus, mind the following recommendations while typing: Font. You should use 12-point Times New Roman font. Such font is a globally accepted standard of formatting the academic writing works. Margins. Apply one-inch margin for all sides of the document. Alignment. Use alignment at the left margin. To do it, choose the function Align Left. Spaces. The whole text must be typed double-spaced. Be attentive: there must be no extra spaces. Nussbaum is the author of the book, ââ¬Å"Not For Profit: Why Democracy Needs the Humanities. We will write a custom essay sample on Not for Profit or any similar topic only for you Order Now â⬠The book begins by drawing the readerââ¬â¢s attention by explaining the ââ¬Å"Silent Crisis. â⬠She describes education in the eyes of the government, and in the eyes of the people. There is a connection made between education and the liberal arts. The title of the book, ââ¬Å"Not For Profit,â⬠are three simple words that when put together, have a deep meaning. In this case, Nussbaum is using the phrase to relate to education. The government sees education as a way to further our economic situation. Statistics say that a student that attends college will earn a great deal more than a student that has not attended college. When people earn more money, they usually spend more money. This stimulates our economy, and is the goal of the government. Government aims to use education as a tool to better our economy, yet they continually decrease the amount of money they give to public schools each year. They take out the true classes that give a person their true identity. It seems as if people are slowly becoming uniform, in being that liberal arts are being taken away, and students are left to studying simply the core classes of what they call ââ¬Å"educationâ⬠. Martha is trying to explain that our education is not for profit! Education is supposed to let people explore different skills and talents. There is a difference between education for profit, and education for citizenship. Education is intended to enhance the lives of the students which receive it. Nussbaum 9). Martha quoted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948, which said: Education shall be directed to the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening of the respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. It shall promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all nations, racial or religious groups. I couldnââ¬â¢t agree more with this quote. This should be the true mean ing and importance of education, not for the greediness of the government to use it for profit. Democracy truly needs the humanities. Liberal arts supplement education in making it better-rounded. Without the arts and humanities, we become the governmentââ¬â¢s puppets, only being used to increase the economy. Liberal arts have been a part of education for quite some time. However, they have never truly been an important part of education according to government standards. What are important to them are the four core subjects: math, science, social studies, and language arts. Martha Nussbaum seems to disagree. To her, the liberal arts are the parts of education that make each student an individual. It gives them their creativity, and it teaches their brains to think critically and analytically, rather than being confined to a box dictated by the core subjects. These ways of thinking are very valuable. They set apart each person, giving them their true identity. Liberal arts teach people to think for themselves. Without them people will rely on the government to do the thinking, and the government will no longer truly represent its people. The Socratic Way defines the way in which students ââ¬Å"think and argue for themselves, rather than defer to tradition and authority,ââ¬Å" and is ââ¬Å"valuable for democracy. (Nussbaum 48). In terms of education this is important because thinking for oneself leads to critical thinking. Critical thinking causes students to also think analytically; therefore they get a better understanding of their material. Democracy is rule of the people. If the people cannot ââ¬Å"think and argue for themselves,â⬠then how can they rule their coun try? It would be difficult to choose representatives if the people could not make their own decisions. Also in the business world as well, it would be difficult to get anything accomplished. Tradition and authority have been important in history. However, Nussbaum does not seem to agree with them. When everything just goes by tradition, nothing is being changed. Things just happen the way they have always happened. Authority tends to stay similar as well. This is because people just go with the flow. They tend to not think for themselves, but instead make decisions based on tradition. Martha Nussbaum is a liberal; when things need to be changed, they should be changed, and I completely agree. We cannot live according to tradition, because there might be a critical thinker or two in this world whom can discover a better or more efficient way to do things. If we are to improve at all in our lifetimes, living by tradition is not going to accomplish the goal. In this world there are Americans, Europeans, Australians, Mexicans, etc. However divided, we still affect each other. We borrow, buy, and sell from other countries, as well as become allies or enemies. Martha describes a ââ¬Å"world citizenâ⬠in her book. This means that despite our geographical and cultural differences, we should put these aside to work together. ââ¬Å"The worldââ¬â¢s schools, colleges, and universities therefore have the important and urgent task: to cultivate in students the ability to see themselves as members of a heterogeneous nation, and a still more heterogeneous world, and to understand something of the history and character of the diverse groups that inhabit it. â⬠(Nussbaum 80. ) The idea of becoming a ââ¬Å"world citizenâ⬠is wildly idealistic. There are so many people in this world that just cannot accept others. Power is a huge part of it, being that people want to be in charge. Some donââ¬â¢t want to be considered equal; they believe that some people are superior to others. It would take a humungous amount of effort to convince everyone on the planet to become a ââ¬Å"world citizen. â⬠Play is important in the lives of all people, but especially children as they begin to develop. Nussbaum talks about play in Chapter 6. It is essential to play in order to understand the value and worth of other people. Childrenââ¬â¢s stories and nursery rhymes cause children to put themselves in the shoes of another person. Therefore they learn that other human beings have feelings also, which helps children with a healthy development. Itââ¬â¢s this healthy development in which play causes that Nussbaum believes is so important. As children grow into adults, however, they donââ¬â¢t necessarily ââ¬Å"play. â⬠They have ââ¬Å"left behind the world of childrenââ¬â¢s games. â⬠(Nussbaum 101). Therefore the arts become important. Whether itââ¬â¢s music, singing, painting, photography, etc. , the arts put people, fictionally, into the shoes of others. In doing this, people continue to grow in their concern for other human beings. As Martha describes our current situation, democratic education is truly ââ¬Å"on the ropes. â⬠Chapter seven talks about why this is true. Our economy is not doing so well. Every day our country goes further and further in debt. Apparently to our government, education is not very important, so they continue to make cut after cut of school funding. When the schools receive less money they have to make cuts on their spending. The humanities are always first to be reduced or eliminated. But when humanities, an important factor of a democratic education, are taken away we are certainly ââ¬Å"on the ropesâ⬠! Without the humanities, schools cannot fully give students a democratic education. So what can we do about it? Nussbaum mentioned the alumni of schools. She claimed that some of them will send money or grants to their previous schools to help fund the humanities and liberal arts which they enjoyed having while they were in school. However, this cannot fund all parts of every program. Even in the core-subject classroom, we can encourage critical thinking. However, class sizes would have to be downsized. Schools would have to hire more teachers. Finances would obviously have to come from somewhere. But in decreasing the amount of students in each classroom, it is easier for the teacher to focus on their students rather than primarily on the material. Smaller groups of students also make it easier to have classroom discussions where all students can participate and think outside the box. Humanities and liberal arts are clearly important to Martha Nussbaum. They should be important to everyone, and I wish they were. This world would be a better place if education was taught around the arts, rather than the arts simply being an elective, or being eliminated due to funding cuts. I enjoy being able to think for myself and Iââ¬â¢m sure all people do. Our government is not perfect, and there never will be a perfect government. We canââ¬â¢t rely on tradition to continue governing this country; we have to make changes in order for the government to best represent the people and to make good decisions. Neither can we submit to the authority, just because itââ¬â¢s there. If we donââ¬â¢t agree with something we have to have the audacity to stand up for what we believe in and never give up. Profits shouldnââ¬â¢t be the main influence for education, nor should it control how we educate our future generations. Instead we should focus on developing people as individuals, rather than people as money-makers. We all have feelings, and everyone deep down wants to feel important and competent. Simply ignoring our feelings is not an option. Drew Faust says it best, ââ¬Å"Human beings need meaning, understanding, and perspective as well as jobs. The question should not be whether we can afford to believe in such purposes in these times, but whether we can afford not to. â⬠(Nussbaum 124). Mistakes are made when we question whether or not to keep humanities in education. Itââ¬â¢s obvious that democratic education needs the humanities. According to Mathis and Jackson (2011, p.383), human resource managers should set pay ranges in accordance with the established pay grades. There are various approaches that human resource managers can incorporate in setting pay ranges. Some of the approaches used in setting pay ranges include job evaluation and market pricing. The two approaches differ with regard to the method used in determining the worth of a job.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Job Evaluation, Market Pricing Pay Structures specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Job evaluation approach involves determining the value of job depending on the job content. Thi s means that job evaluation approach entails using internal data. In this approach, an organizationââ¬â¢s human resource manager designs an internal hierarchy of all jobs and sets the pay ranges. According to Jensen, McMullen and Stark ( 2007, p.90), job evaluation takes into consideration a number of factors which include the responsibility, working conditions, effort and skills required to perform a job There are various job evaluation pay systems that a firm can use in setting pay ranges. These include job ranking, job grading, point method and factor comparison. These methods have their benefits and drawbacks. For example, through job grading, a firm is able to deal with internal equity issues. However, this job evaluation approach is limited in that classification of jobs using different grades is subjective. Additionally, the method mainly relies on job titles when setting the pay (Erasmus, Swanepoel, Westhuizen, Schenk Wessels, 2005, p. 358). On the other hand, market pri cing approach or market-based pay entails using labor market data to determine the worth of a particular job. Therefore, this approach involves using external data. In order to use this approach, a firm must identify the relevant labor market which can either be local, regional, national or international. The next step entails obtaining the relevant market pay. Market pricing approach is considered to be an effective and competitive approach of determining pay levels. The benefit of market pricing approach arises from the fact that it emphasizes on a firmââ¬â¢s external competitiveness. Another benefit of the market pricing approach is that it is not too complicated. However, the approach suffers from a number of drawbacks. One of the drawbacks of this approach is that it is not possible to access reliable market data. Therefore, the approach is only applicable if a firm can access market data related to a number of jobs within a particular job family. In addition, market-based p ay or market pricing approach assumes that all jobs within a particular job title in different firms are identical. The approach also assumes that the pay difference that exists within a particular organization reflects internal equity issues. In addition, the approach cannot be used when determining the pay for some jobs which are unique. For example, it a particular job is unique to a certain organization, it is not possible to get another job to compare it with. This means that it is not possible to access market pay data.Advertising Looking for research paper on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! There are a number of reasons that are pushing organizations to adopt pays determined by job accountabilities and results and not by effort and tenure. This approach is effective in that it integrates the best elements of job evaluation and market based pay systems. The approach also enables a firm to reflect the actual value of jobs within the firm. JCPenny which operates within the retail industry adopted job content-based market-pricing approach in order to ensure effective valuation of jobs. Through this approach, organizations are able to ensure that internal promotions are based on job content and not results and longevity of tenure. By integrating this approach, organizations are able to access more accurate market data. This arises from the fact that a thorough analysis of the job contents and job designs affect the market value of a particular job is conducted. Jensen, McMullen and Stark (2007, p.95) are of the opinion tha t this approach enables organization management teams to develop a comprehensive understanding of the job description and the criteria used in determining the value of a particular job. The resultant effect is that organization management teams understand why some jobs are categorized as being big and others small. The approach also provides organizations with a consistent and repeatable methodology that can be used when obtaining market data with regard to non-benchmark roles. As a result of these reasons, most organizations such as JCPenney are considering shifting their pay system from one based on effort and tenure to the new approach that is based on results and job accountabilities (Jensen, McMullen Stark, 2005, p. 95). Formulate your research-based recommendations about whether or not the job evaluation approach is outdated A considerable number of firms in different economies have been using job evaluation approach in determining the worth of their jobs. Currently, most org anizations consider this approach as a job-sizing tool (Beale, n.d, p.1). For example, through the point-based method, it is possible for a firmââ¬â¢s human resource manager to determine the worth of various job categories in the organization. Job evaluation approach was widely being used by firms within the public sector to determine the value of their jobs. However, firms within the private sector are increasingly integrating the approach in their human resource management strategies. This is a clear indication that the approach is not outdated (Cushway, 2011, p. 78).Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Job Evaluation, Market Pricing Pay Structures specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Additionally, the approach is increasingly being considered as an important tool in defending equal pay claims within the private and public sector (Armstrong, Cummins, Hastings Wood, 2005, p. 61). As a result of the versat ile characteristic of the job evaluation approach, organizations in different economic sectors can use it in a number of ways. For example, human resource managers can use the approach to make changes to job contents and to implement organizational and technological changes. Considering the fact that job evaluation approach is based on internal data, a firmââ¬â¢s management team can use job evaluation approach to compare its pay with those in the external market. The approach can also enable human resource managers to harmonize the employees pay and working condition with their pay spine. Other ways in which organizations can use job evaluation approach entails developing fair and equal pay systems and establishing effective grading structures. According to Beale (n.d, p. 3), there is a new trend that is emerging whereby job evaluation is increasingly being linked with other human resource management processes such as performance management and recruitment. This indicates that jo b evaluation is firmly entrenched in human resource practices. The approach is also being used by individuals in developing their career paths. To ensure effective integration of changes within an organizationââ¬â¢s job content, human resource managers should consider the employees response. This arises from the fact that failure to involve the employees when implementing changes may result into employee resistance. In order to avoid this, it is paramount for HR managers to integrate effective job evaluation. This will aid in the determination of effective remuneration to be given to the employees. The remuneration should be in line with the changes in the job content undertaken. From the above analysis, it is evident that job evaluation approach is not outdated. As one of the human resource management approaches used in determining the value of a particular job, job evaluation is increasingly being utilized as a support mechanism to different human resource management practices. Despite the fact that the approach can be bureaucratic depending on the type of human resource system being used, the approach has proved to be very effective. This is evidenced by the high rate at which it is being utilized by private and public organizations in different economic sectors. Therefore, there is a high probability of increment in the relevance of job evaluation in the future (Beale, n.d, p. 3).Advertising Looking for research paper on business economics? My dad always told me that his mother told him and his brother never to get tattoos, so they never did. I guess he expected me not to get one because he never did. So I knew early on in life that I would end up disappointing my parents, because I would eventually get a tattoo. Its not that I wanted to disappoint my parents, but I knew that tattoos were going to be a part of my life. The first tattoo that I got, was when I was seventeen, by a friend of mine named Kassy. It is located on the lower right side of my stomach, and the image is a pair of cherries, well sort of. They have normal green stems like cherries do, but where there would be two red balls for the cherries, there are two red skulls. I never really knew why I wanted to get this image tattooed on myself, but it was a new experience and I didnt think it over much. I do not regret getting it though. The second tattoo that I got was also from Kassy when I was seventeen. It is on my upper back, centered from shoulder blade to shoulder blade. This image is of two swallows that are reflecting one another. This is my favorite, though it is yet to be colored in, it is a great work of art. When I do get this one colored, the body of the birds are going to be a dark blue that fades to white in the center, and the wings are going to be a teal blue, that fade to white. Then, it will be my prettiest work of art that I designed, imprinted in my skin forever. There is one thing that I have learned from getting tattoos, It is that you should really wait until you are about twenty years or older to get one. Just because of the fact that people tend to change their mind about images that they want on their body for the rest of their life. I have three other ideas for tattoos that I want for my self. Here are 10 facts about sodium. Sodium is a silvery-white metal belonging to Group 1 of the Periodic Table, which is the alkali metals group.Sodium is highly reactive. The pure metal is stored in oil or kerosene because it spontaneously ignites in water. Sodium metal also floats on water. At room temperature, sodium metal is soft enough that you can cut it with a butter knife.Sodium is an essential element in animal nutrition. In humans, sodium is important for maintaining fluid balance in the cells and throughout the body, while the electric potential maintained by sodium ions is critical for nerve function.Sodium and its compounds are used for food preservation, for cooling nuclear reactors, in sodium vapor lamps, for purifying and refining other elements and compounds, and as a desiccant. There is only one stable isotope of sodium: 23Na.The symbol for sodium is Na, which comes from the Latin natrium or Arabic natrun or a similar-sounding Egyptian word, all referring to soda or sodium carbonate.Sodium is an abundan t element. Its found in the sun and many other stars. It is the sixth most abundant element on Earth, comprising about 2.6 percent of the earths crust. It is the most abundant alkali metal. Although its too reactive to occur in pure elemental form, it is found in many minerals, including halite, cryolite, soda niter, zeolite, amphibole, and sodalite. The most common sodium mineral is halite or sodium chloride salt.Sodium was first commercially produced by thermal reduction of sodium carbonate with carbon at 1,100 à °C, in the Deville process. Pure sodium may be obtained by electrolysis of molten sodium chloride. It may also be produced by the thermal decomposition of sodium azide. carmenlynch170http://www.blogger.com/profile/00500432836215808518noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4354958512235363352.post-41552833264400796342020-02-15T14:01:00.001-08:002020-02-15T14:01:03.493-08:00Final Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 wordsFinal - Essay Example This is of Italian origin and speaks about the intricacies that surround the human condition (Petsko 2). These works of the Italians tell something about their culture. They value relations between the human and the society with them. Together with it, there is an association of different cultures all packed in to the Divine comedy; something to be regarded as a hybrid that becomes a new level of critical analysis for the society (Papastergiadis 40). Cultures are diverse and they are very colourful since it speaks about identity of every individual. However, one thing to consider in modern world now, especially in America is that arts start to become a burden and its relevance is deteriorating in the context of the modern American society since universities now starts to do cost cutting on the arts and humanities (Petsko 1). This is now a sad situation that I really abhor. The world now becomes a business place and through globalization, America starts to be so hegemonic and homogene ous (Steger 82). This made art a commodity only for entertainment and art as an education becomes a burden (Petsko 1). America now starts to be so insensitive about the importance of arts and humanities for the development of an individual. ... Different priorities happen. Welfare over profit becomes the mode of most societies nowadays (Petsko 1). Cost cutting occurs and the irrelevant ones affected especially the arts. However, the American society now, due to globalization, has become so unappreciative of the arts and undermining its value (Nussbaum 8). Curriculums are changed to be so responsive to the profit driven world that constantly robs the people of the society their right to a decent living (Petsko 1 and Steger 75). Given this case, why did the Americans start to shun out other cultures and view them as not that relevant to the conditions of America now? Globalization is the answer. Globalization starts to exert a hegemonic in all forms especially culture especially in terms of the popular (Steger 81). Even if we say that culture is something intrinsic and relevant to one particular group or society, they have been undermines by these hegemonies. Hybrid then becomes a form of resistance (Papastergiadis 49). This becomes a strong that can at least sustain the field of arts and humanities in other countries present in the world though I always put into consideration that even if this resistance is indeed plausible, it still cannot exert a very strong condition for it to prevent the diminishing value that the arts and humanities, ultimately culture in its totality, cannot be regarded as strong enough. In the present wave of occurrence, I somehow detest the political moves of the America in the global arena since they are regarded to be one of the strongest forces that uphold globalization. This something that I do not really like at all because globalization then becomes a tool for America to be undemocratic and inconsiderate of other cultures which could be a reflection of carmenlynch170http://www.blogger.com/profile/00500432836215808518noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4354958512235363352.post-25545550181002230252020-02-02T09:21:00.001-08:002020-02-02T09:21:03.723-08:00Write an essay on Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House in which youWrite an on Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House in which you either support or oppose Nora Helmer's decision at the conclusion of the play to leave her family - Essay Example She is heroic and not selfish as most critics conclude. Critics of Nora Helmerââ¬â¢s decision to leave her family at the end of the play point out that she was too impulsive. An example in the play is Mrs. Linde who decides that she ought to take care of the man she loves for her to be contented with herself (Ibsen & Henrietta 6). Her character is a complete opposite of Noraââ¬â¢s character in terms of attitudes and emotions. The character of Mrs. Linde clearly shows that Noraââ¬â¢s decision to leave her family was not the only decision available to women in her situation. Other critics who have read the book like the Swedish playwright August Strindberg attack Noraââ¬â¢s decision to leave her family as unacceptable (Billington 1). This is because the marriage covenant was considered holy. He condemns Noraââ¬â¢s behavior and deems her as irresponsible and selfish since she decides to leave her children because they do not have to pay for the mistakes of their father. The times depicted in the play do not support Noraââ¬â ¢s behavior since no true woman would ever make such a choice at that time in history. Nora Helmer is not only a victim of male domination, but also a master of the domestic world. She is dedicated enough to take care of her sick husband, courageous enough to forge her fatherââ¬â¢s signature and confident enough to pay back all her debts no matter how tough the situation gets (Unwin & Ibsen 10). Nora Helmer cannot be blamed for her desire of the ââ¬Ëwonderful thingââ¬â¢; the ideal union where both husband and wife regard each other as rational individuals aware of the society they live in and they can also fulfill their individual duties. Her ideation of what marriage ought to be bringings her to the awareness of the flaws in her own marriage. This awareness is what finally drives her to leave her husband as her husbandââ¬â¢s firm decision not to compromise his integrity for the sake of love ignites her decision and she leaves, slamming the door. Scott Fitzgerald was bound to be a classic novelist, portraying his life from birth, through his youth, and through his older years in mostly all of his novels, including his most popular novel, The Great Gatsby. Fitzgeraldââ¬â¢s life from youth to death found full expression in some 160 short stories (Prigozy, 1). The elegiac note that characterizes his reminiscences of his early childhood and struggling adolescence greatly affected his work (Prigozy, 1). F. Scott Fitzgerald was born on September 24, 1897 in St. Paul, Minnesota. His father, Edward Fitzgerald was a distinguished lawyer, Fitzgeraldââ¬â¢s mother, Mary McQuillan, was left with the inheritance of a million-dollar grocery business after her parentsââ¬â¢ death (Philips, 1). Fitzgerald was an intellectual, and he was a very dramatic child, but did poorly in school and he was often known as an outcast (Philips, 1). He grew up experiencing the end of WW1 and the jazz age. He also got to experience the roaring twenties (Prigozy, 1). He moved many times with his family in his young age. His family often moved to different apartments in the same cities (Prigozy, 1). These, his teen years, had a great impact on his life. ââ¬Å"A sense of estrangement so characteristic of his formative years marks much of his fiction, from the first short stories, written when he was thirteen, to his last efforts in Hollywoodâ⬠(Prigozy, 2). In 1911, at the age of fourteen, Fitzgerald was enrolled into St. Paul academy. This would be where he published his first few short stories in the school magazine. He later re-created his school years in the Basil Duke Lee series, which showed what it was like to be an outsider and to be disliked, as Fitzgerald was (Pr igozy, 2). He was an average student, but managed to get into Princeton in 1913, from which he never graduated (Philips, 1). His years at Princeton were the most influential on his writings, mostly because of a man named John Peale Bishop. Bishop introduced Fitzgerald to poetry, that especially of John Keats and Edmund Wilson, who would become the ââ¬Å"intellectual conscienceâ⬠of Fitzgeraldââ¬â¢s life (Prigozy, 3). Instead of graduating, he enlisted into the Army at the end of WW1, which is when he met his wife Zelda Sayre, whom he met in a boot camp during the war (Philips, 2). carmenlynch170http://www.blogger.com/profile/00500432836215808518noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4354958512235363352.post-53434282073954795162020-01-17T02:09:00.001-08:002020-01-17T02:09:03.321-08:00Darkness at Noon Revision Notes EssayWhy does Nikolai Rubashov confess to crimes against the revolution that he has not committed? What are the political options open to Rubashov following his arrest? Which option does he choose? Are the implications of the political argument in Arthur Koesterââ¬â¢s Darkness at Noon anti-revolutionary or merely anti-Stalinist? Is Darkness at Noon an attempt to explain why the Russian Revolution in particular failed or is it an attempt to explain why all revolutions that rely on violent means to achieve their ends must fail? What is the central political argument of Arthur Koestlerââ¬â¢s Darkness at Noon? What are the political implications of his argument? Outline the most important differences in the political mentality of Rubashovââ¬â¢s interrogators- Ivanov and Gletkin? What political options are open to Rubashov after he is arrested? Following Rubashovââ¬â¢s arrest Ivanov gave the option of going through a public trial by confessing to certain acts, or having a private administrative trial. Public trial: * This could lead to the discrediting and weakening of the ideology * Rubashov held a high position within the party, and for him to be seen as a dissident would have stirred other revolutionaries * Would have made it more difficult for the party to discredit his views if Rubashov did not publically denounce himself * Doesnââ¬â¢t serve the revolution * Preserves his own honour in some ways but is of no use to the greater good Confess: * Rubashov capitulates in order to serve the revolution and the party * Although he was not guilty of anything, he cannot find any reason in his own mind not to capitulate. Rubashov has been a creature of the party for his whole life, and now the party demands that he should confess * Justice and objective truth have ceased to have any meaning for him * He feels superior to his Czarist officer who inhabits the next cell, showing the differences in thought processes from a person ingrained with the party ideology versus the ââ¬Ëbourgeoisââ¬â¢ angle who would uphold his honour * The officer believes that honour is about doing what you think is right, an individualist perspective, where as Rubashov contends that to uphold the honour of the regime/revolution is more honourable. Ideology dictates the actions of all players in the regime ââ¬â citizen and state To serve the revolution, Rubashov finds it necessary to capitulate ââ¬â serves the greater good ââ¬â it is better to confess to crimes not committed than to risk the reputation of the revolution for his own honour ââ¬â grammatical fiction: there is no I. This is a demonstration of the corruption of revolutions enacted through violent means. The means donââ¬â¢t justify the ends when the citizens are being overlooked ââ¬â the revolution is supposed to act for the good of the people, but the ideology has become corrupted to serve the good of itself and its leader. Outline the most important differences in the political mentality of Rubashovââ¬â¢s interrogators- Ivanov and Gletkin? Ivanov * He lived before the revolution, and was an intellectual who helped bring about and serve the revolution * He is not a man of violence ââ¬â would prefer to persuade Rubashov rather than beat him. Coercion is a last resort for him, but if it is necessary, he believes that the ends do justify the means. Gletkin * Gletkin is of the second generation of the revolution. He comes from a peasant background, is not an intellectual. Rubashov thinks of him as little more than a violent thug. * His political views are therefore those of the party, he accepts what is force fed to him without thinking critically about it. * He is a man of violence. He wants to beat and torture Rubashov to obtain his confession. Therefore he doesnââ¬â¢t believe in the idea of persuasion. However this does show that he believes the end justifies the means. * Gletkin is the culmination of what Koestler argues went wrong with the revolution ââ¬â he represents totalitarian thought, and he is the kind of individual that it produces. * ââ¬Ëborn without an umbilical cordââ¬â¢ carmenlynch170http://www.blogger.com/profile/00500432836215808518noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4354958512235363352.post-24572423816832514072020-01-08T22:30:00.001-08:002020-01-08T22:30:03.665-08:00Essay on The Awakening - 712 Words Critical Views of The Awakening The Awakening, written by Kate Chopin, is full of ideas and understanding about human nature. In Chopins time, writing a story with such great attention to sensual details in both men and women caused skepticism among readers and critics. However, many critics have different views with deeper thought given to The Awakening. Symbolism, the interpretation of Ednas suicide, and awakenings play important roles in the analysis of all critics. Symbolism in The Awakening is interpreted in many ways. As she swims out to sea and death, Ednas mind returns to her childhood dreams of limitlessness. In this sense, the sea symbolizes her dreams to have her youth back because it had no beginning and no end.(Rosowski 58). Edna imagines herself walking through the Kentucky meadows that she remembered from many years ago. Edna died, but in a way she had created her own limitless awakening. As the title of the novel reveals, awakenings are the most important as well as the most emotional parts of the story. Edna slowly awakens to her true self. She begins daily casting aside that fictitious self which we assume like a garment with which to appear before the world. She creates her own awakenings with dreams and paintings (Gilbert 104). It is as if she tried to begin again, making a life that she could control and to become a new woman and be herself rather than what she was expected to be. Ednas awakenings were all a part of her defining her own self(Rosowski 44). She feared to have the conventional life that so many women had become trapped in. Intertwined in this classic novel are many themes, most that relate to the inherent evil that exists in all human beings and the malicious nature of mankind. In The Lord of the Flies, Golding shows the boys gradual transformation from being civilized, well-mannered people to savage, ritualistic beasts. From the time that the boys land on the island, both a power struggle and the first signs of the boys inherent evil, Piggys mockery, occur. After blowing the conch and summoning all the boys to come for an assembly, an election is held. After scolding Samneric for being pessimistic about their fate, Ralph momentarily forgets the reasons why the signal fire is so important. He tried to remember. Smoke, he said, we want smoke. Course we have. Cos the smokes a signal and we cant be rescued if we dont have smoke. I knew that! Shouted Ralph (Golding 172). Ralph begins to lose his initial cheerfulness and enthusiasm and replaces it with disinterest and pessimism. Piggy and Ralph separate themselves from Jack and his tribe and continue to maintain their government. However, when Jack and his tribe kill a pig and invite Ra lph and Piggy to join their feast, the two accept and cannot resist the temptation of the meat. Later on in the celebration, Jack and his tribe perform a ritualistic dance, in which Piggy and Ralph later join. Piggy and Ralph, under the threat of the sky, found themselves eager to take a place in this demented but partly secure society (Golding 152). They realize that the dance fueled the boys to murder Simon, and later deny their participance in it. We left early, said Piggy quickly, because we were tired (Golding 158). Ralph and Piggy recognize the evil in the dance, and know that if the others found out about their participance in it, then the boys would claim that Piggy and Ralph would beShow MoreRelatedWilliam Golding s Lord Of The Flies1456 Words à |à 6 PagesHobbes, however, held the belief that mankind is naturally evil and that society needs an absolute central authority to contain this evilness and grant its people with the common protection. It is not a job well ââ¬â suited to everyone. Teaching is still more of an art than a science. We will write a custom essay sample on A Successful Teacher or any similar topic only for you Order Now So teachers should be artists in this domain. Teaching should provide an opportunity for students to develop a strong sense of creativity, a high self-esteem a life- long respect for learning. A teacher will be one factor that helps a student learn and progress along their way through life. Many individuals believe that being a teacher is an easy task. Our society believes that any person can become a teacher, but experience has shown that not everyone is capable of being a teacher. There are many personality traits that are required to be an effective teacher. ââ¬Å"How to be a successful teacher? â⬠It is an important question that we can answer by infinite words and endless sentences. However, here are some top keys for being a successful and ideal teacher. Every teacher can benefit from focusing on these important qualities. Success in teaching, as in most areas of life depends almost entirely on your attitude and on your approach. 1- Sense of Humor : A sense of humor can help you become a successful teacher. Your sense of humor can relieve tense classroom situations before they become disruptions. A sense of humor will also make the class more enjoyable for your students and possibly make students look forward to attending and paying attention Most importantly, a sense of humor will allow you to see the joy in life and make you a happier person as you progress through this sometimes stressful career. 2- A positive Attitude A positive attitude is a great asset in life. You will be thrown many curve balls in life and especially in the teaching profession. A positive attitude will help you cope with these in the best way. Your composure will ease your possible anger and will decrease the pressure that you may face. For example, you may find out the first day of school that you are teaching English 2 instead of English 1. This would not be an ideal situation, but a teacher with the right attitude would try to focus on getting through the first day without negatively impacting the students. 3- High Expectations : An effective teacher must have high expectations; you should strive to raise the bar for your students. If you expect less effort, you will receive less effort. You should work on an attitude that says that you know students can achieve to your level of expectations, thereby giving them a sense of confidence too. This is not to say that you should create unrealistic expectations. However, your expectations will be one of the key factors in helping learn and achieve. 4-Consistency: In order to create a positive learning environment, your students should know what to expect from you every day. You need to be consistent, this will create a safe learning environment for the students and they will be more likely to succeed. It is amazing that students can adapt to teachers throughout the day that range from strict to easy. However, they will dislike an environment in which the rules are constantly changing. 5. Fairness: Many people confuse fairness and consistency. A consistent teacher is the same person from day to day. A fair teacher treats students equally in the same situation. For example, students complain of unfairness when teachers treat one gender or group of students differently. Students pick up this so quickly, so be careful of being labeled unfair. . Flexibility: One of the tenets of teaching should be that everything is in a constant state of change. Interruptions and disruptions are the norm and very few days are typical. Therefore, a flexible attitude is important not only for your stress level, but also for your students who expect you to be in charge and take control of any situation. Finally, there are some points that every teacher should pay attention to in order to be an ideal teac her : 1- Never lose your temper, be self-contain. ââ¬â Do not let your students know your self-points. 3- Do not break the rules and the regulations. 4- Be patient. 5- Be unpredictable, do not be a stereo type teacher. 6- Variety and speedâ⬠¦. â⬠Variety is the spice of lifeâ⬠. 7- Love your students and treat them kindly. 8- Be punctual in appointments. 9- Be tolerant. 10- Pay attention to the differences that may be found among the students. Why do we need physical activity in our lives? Physical Activity and Diabetes (Epidemiology) Conclusion BibliographyIntroductionFor our seminar topic physical activity and disease we chose diabetes as the focus of our research.Since diabetes is such a complex disease with many different forms, we decided to focus on diabetes type I. This is known as insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM). This type of diabetes includes people who are dependant on injections of insulin on a daily basis in order to satisfy the bodies insulin needs, they cannot survive without these injections.OVERVIEW OF DIABETES TYPE IWhat is diabetes type I?In order to understand the disease we firstly need to know about insulin. Insulin is a hormone. The role of insulin is to convert the food we eat into various useful substances, discarding everything that is wasteful. It is the job of insulin to see that th e useful substances are put to best use for our well-being. The useful substances are used for building cells, are made ready for immediate expenditure as energy and also stored for later energy expenditure. The cause of diabetes is an absolute or lack of the hormone insulin. As a result of this lack of insulin the processes that involve converting the foods we eat into various useful substances does not occur.Insulin comes from the beta cells which are located in the pancreas. In the case of diabetes type I almost all of the beta cells have been destroyed. Therefore daily injections of insulin become essential to life. Health implications of diabetes type IOne of the products that is of vital importance in our bodies is glucose, a simple carbohydrate sugar which is needed by virtually every part of our body as fuel to function.Insulin controls the amount of glucose distributed to vital organs and also the muscles. In diabetics due to the lack of insulin and therefore the control of glucose given to different body parts they face death if they dont inject themselves with insulin daily.Since strict monitoring of diabetes is needed for the control of the disease, little room is left for carelessness. As a result diabetic patients are susceptible to many other diseases and serious conditions if a proper course of treatment is not followed.Other diseases a diabetic is open to: Cardiovascular disease, stroke, Peripheral artery disease, gangrene, kidney disease, blindness, hypertension, nerve damage, impotence etc. Basically there is an increased incident of infection in diabetic sufferers. Therefore special care needs to be taken to decrease the chances of getting these other serious diseases.PHYSICAL ACTIVITY What is physical activity?(Bouchard 1988) States that physical activity is any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles resulting in energy expenditure. Therefore this includes sports and leisure activities of all forms. Why do we need physical activity in our lives? Physical activity and exercise helps tune the human machine, our bodies.Imagine a car constantly driven only to stop for fuel. It would be a client for all sorts of damage, rusting, oil leaking, dehydration and the chances are most likely it would die in the middle of the road not long after. This is what the body would be like if we didntexercise at all. We would be and as a result of todays lifestyle many of us are, the perfect target to all kinds of diseases and infections. For those of us who are carrier of some disease or illness we are still encouraged to exercise by our physicians if we have the strength to. This is to help make our organs, muscles, bones and arteries more efficient and better equipped to fight against the disease or illness. This is our way of counter attacking. And if we are still healthy then we reduce the chances of getting an illness or a disease.PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND DIABETES (EPIDEMIOLOGY)Recently insulin injections have become available to dependant patients. However in the pre-insulin era physical exercise was one of the few therapies available to physicians in combating diabetes. For an IDDM carrier to benefit from exercise they need to be well aware of their body and the consequences of exercising. If an IDDM carrier has no real control over their situation and just exercise without considering their diet, time of insulin intake, type of exercise, duration of the exercise and the intensity, then the results can be very hazardous to the patient. In the first journal article that I used for this part of the research (Sutton 1981) had conducted an investigation on drugs used in metabolic disorders. The article is designed to provide some background information on previous beliefs and research conducted early this century. As well as his own investigations conducted during the beginning of the 1980s. He has compared the results and came to the same conclusion as the investigations done early in this century.Suttons findin gs show that decrease in blood glucose following an insulin injection was magnified when the insulin was followed by physical activity/exercise (see figure 1). This shows that if a person gets involved in physical activity or exercise after insulin the volume of glucose drops dramatically. This leads to symptoms of hypoglycemia. The reason this occurs is that glucose uptake by muscles increase during exercise, in spite of no change or even a diminishing plasma insulin concentration. As a result of this type of information we know now that if a patient is not controlled through a good diet and program then they could put themselves in danger. A person who might be poorly maintained and ketotic will become even more ketotic and hypoglycimic.Good nutrition is of great importance to any individual especially one that exercises. In the case of diabetes even more consideration must go into the selection of food before and after exercise. Doctors suggest large intakes of carbohydrates befo re exercise for diabetes carriers to meet the glucose needs of the muscles. The second article that I used was that of Konen, et al. He and his colleagues conducted testing and research on changes in diabetic urinary and transferrin excretion after moderate exercise. This article was a report of the way the research was conducted and its findings. The researched found that urinary proteins, particularly albumin, increase in urinary excretion after moderate exercise. Albumin which is associated with micro- and macrovascular diseases in diabetic patience was found to increase significantly in IDDM patients, while remaining normal in non-diabetics. (See table 1 and 2 for results)These results cannot be conclusive to say that this shows that exercise causes other micro- and macrovascular diseases in diabetics. Since albumin is not associated with any disease in non-diabetics then the same may be the case for diabetics as well. However further research is required to find out why such a si gnificant increase occurs in diabetic patients and what it really means. It obvious that there are many very complicated issues associated with diabetes which cannot be explained at this stage. Therefore much more research is required and its only a matter of time for these complications to resolved.Although there are no firm evidence to suggest that exercise will improve or worsen diabetes still it is recommended by physicians.Aristotle and the Indian physician, Sushruta, suggested the use of exercise in the treatment of diabetic patients as early as 600 B.C. And during late last century and early this century many physician claimed that the need for insulin decreased in exercising patients. The benefits of exercise in non-diabetic individuals is well known. For example reduce the risk of heart disease. This makes exercise very important to diabetic carriers since they are at a greater risk of getting heart disease than non-diabetics Postmodernism Essay Example For an IDDM carrier t o . carmenlynch170http://www.blogger.com/profile/00500432836215808518noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4354958512235363352.post-36768848913403286052019-11-29T19:38:00.001-08:002019-11-29T19:38:03.890-08:00Beer and Man Brewing Company Essay EssaysBeer and Man Brewing Company Essay Essays Beer and Man Brewing Company Essay Paper Beer and Man Brewing Company Essay Paper Mountain Man Brewing Company was established in 1925. and since so has come to be known as ââ¬Å"West Virginiaââ¬â¢s Beerâ⬠. What about that job excites you and makes you want to pursue it?If you donââ¬â¢t have answers to these questions, take some time to take stock of yourself, your strengths, y our weaknesses, who you might know who could be useful or helpful to you in making the change, and then figure out what youââ¬â¢ll need to prepare to make it happen. Being clear about what you want and need to do in order to get it will help you develop a plan. Once thatââ¬â¢s set in motion, all the work you put toward changing jobs will be productive and youââ¬â¢ll have the confidence of knowing you are moving in the right direction.2. BrandIn this age of social media, it is increasingly more important to have an online brand that is distinctive and unique and targeted to your industry and career goals. Take every opportunity you can to tailor your professional networking sites not just to your current job, but to the job you hope to attain.Try doing guest blogs and posts for websites in your field. Wherever possible, try to join the conversation thatââ¬â¢s most relevant in your industry. Also make sure to put up a personal website that covers the information that would be on your resume, but in a way that sells you and provides context and personality as well as bulleted facts. Remember that every online space is an opportunity for you to show yourself in your best light and set yourself up to step into your new career.3. NetworkYour network is the key to your career success, both in your current job and wherever youââ¬â¢d like to end up next. Maintain the active connections you have, no matter where you go. And if you donââ¬â¢t have that many connections in the new career youââ¬â¢re trying to transition into, start building them through friends of friends and acquaintances of acquaintances. Brick by brick, youââ¬â¢ll build a powerful building full of contacts that can help keep you current and moving forward.Keep on top of trends in your field. Research the kinds of contacts you need to make, then put yourself in a room with them. Attend mixers and conferences. Get your business cards in circulation, and start accumulating a pile for yourself! Above all else, start figuring out who the top recruiters in your new field would be and begin reaching out to them on LinkedIn or other networking forums.4. Financial Wiggle RoomItââ¬â¢s always good, when making a career change, to have a bit of wiggle room. A safety net, if you will. Just in case you need to take some time off work in the course of your career change. You might have to start lower on your new totem pole as well, and itââ¬â¢s best to be prepared to keep your current standard of living on an even keep through your transition. Step one: update your budget, finding ways to cut frivolous costs and make a plan to save more aggressively for the time being. Take on a side gig or two to build up your cushion. Having the money side sorted out will help take away some of the major stresses of the career change.5. TenacityAbove all else, your biggest secret weapon is a combination of patience and persistence. This can be a long and stressful process- much lon ger and more stressful than we usually budget for when making these initial decisions. Keep your spirits up, but keep in mind that youââ¬â¢ll have to work hard and be a bit gentle on yourself as you make your way from one career to the other. Stay focused and youââ¬â¢ll be sure to get there! carmenlynch170http://www.blogger.com/profile/00500432836215808518noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4354958512235363352.post-12818787420965826082019-11-22T03:27:00.001-08:002019-11-22T03:27:01.958-08:00The Sociological Perspectives Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 wordsThe Sociological Perspectives - Essay Example The functionalist perspective views the world as a set of groups that coexist based on mutual need and cooperation. It is through this means that society is able to reach and maintain equilibrium. Durkheim, Comte, and Spencer pioneered this sociological perspective, but Robert Merton elaborated on the theory. He viewed societal consequences as being manifest, latent, and latent dysfunctional. Manifest functions are the positive and intended outcome of a group on society. Latent functions are the unintended consequences that help society maintain order. The latent dysfunctions are unintended negative results that continually upset and shape society. Our family was lower middle class and as such we filled the role of working in the factories and the mills. In return society provided us with adequate income and substantial opportunities. In doing so, our social class fulfilled its function and was rewarded by other groups in society through peaceful coexistence Karl Marx, the most well known conflict theorist, viewed the world as groups that were competing for the available resources. He generally defined conflict in terms of wealth and saw it as two classes; the bourgeoisie (capitalists) and the proletariat (workers). carmenlynch170http://www.blogger.com/profile/00500432836215808518noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4354958512235363352.post-19134589052823828302019-11-20T19:53:00.001-08:002019-11-20T19:53:02.198-08:00UK Law-Succession Coursework Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 wordsUK Law-Succession - Coursework Example However, circumstances exist whereby the requirement of a grant can be waivered. In the first place, where the value of the estate is worthà ?5,000 or less, secondly, where the value of the estate is greater than ?5,000 but has neither a house, shares nor any bank account, with more than ?5,000. Further, a grant of representation will not be necessary where all houses, bank accounts and other assets had been under joint tenancy. The estate in question in this case is one that is above the value of 5000 and an asset in form of a bank account worth ?7800 thus making a grant necessary and not susceptible to the first two exceptions. It should however be noted that part of the deceased estate viz a house worth ?400,000 was jointly co-owned with the surviving spouse Andrea, broaching out a significant legal implication. Thus the issue is whether or not a grant of representation necessary in this case. W Swadling, ââ¬ËProperty: General Principlesââ¬â¢ poses that where two co-owners of a property, if they co-owned a house under joint tenancy then the surviving co-owner shall take ownership of the deceased share automatically through jus accrescendi regardless of any will or rule of intestacy. As such the property co-owned may not be subject to any grant of representation. ... The question that arises therefore in relation to the rest of the estate is what type of grant is accruable to whom and what share of the estate ought to be provided for the representatives. There exist three types of grants viz, grant of probate, grant of letters of representation and grant of letters of representation with Will annexed. A grant of probate only applies when the deceased has left a valid will appointing one or more executors to perform duties regarding the estate as provided by the will. Only the appointed have the right to ââ¬Ëproveââ¬â¢ the Will. In the current case, Peter died without a Will and therefore no appointed executors and thus no one among the persons with interest to the estate can apply for a grant of representation to probate. Similarly, a grant of representation annexed with a Will, requires first that the deceased ought to have died with a valid Will, having appointed an executor but that the executor is unable or unwilling to apply for the gr ant then an applicant may be granted. Thus the type of grant that is applicable in this case is that called ââ¬Ëgrant of letters of administrationââ¬â¢. This is because the deceased died intestate. The persons (or would be administrators) entitled to this grant are commonly one or more of nearest relatives alive. It is important to note that any of these types of grants could be classified as either general or limited grants. There exist two extensive procedures on how to apply for probate or administration. First is by way of employing a solicitor to undertake the process on the personââ¬â¢s behalf. Secondly is by applying on oneââ¬â¢s self via the Personal Applicants Section of the Probate Office, or one of the District Probate Registries. It is an important part of a vehicle. Identifying and confirming the work requirement: the nature and objectives of the analysis and evaluation requirements are determined by the work instructions and reports used. Correct functioning of light vehicle driveline is accessed and interpreted. Throughout the work, equipments and social isolation requirements and personal protection needs are observed. Safety impacts of the work are responded according to the obligations and practices. There are also faults related to clutch, gear axle, wheel and it also has the remedies for it. Light Vehicle driveline system faults: Introduction: The contents of a driveline system are clutch, transmission, shaft, axle and wheel. It is an important part of a vehicle. It can be said as the controllable parts of the vehicle. The gear or the transmission is the system which boosts torque and power. The clutch is the system which controls the transmission if it runs out of control. The wheel is why the front tire rotates to the wish we want. If faults are found in these any parts, it must be inspected well and remedies must be taken immediately in order to prevent it from damages. Special remedies are mentioned below in some faults which can be rectified by a person if a little try is given. In several vehicles, problems may arise with the two system such as drive staffs and transmission system. The drivers are mostly concerned when transmission and driveline troubles arise. . However, it is very important to check out the causes before the replacement as it may be very expensive. The proper and systematic analysis and the evaluation of the right problem should be detected and then the actions for the repair must be undertaken. Main body Components of driveline system: Driveshaft: it is a component mechanically builds in order to transmit torque. It is generally used to connect components of a drive train which cannot be connected directly. It is so because of the distance. Clutch: This is a device which provides for the transmission of power from one module to another. The other module of the clutch is the brake. Clutch is used when the power of the transmission is to be controlled. It is employed with two rotating shafts. One shaft is attached to a power unit and the other provides output power. Gearbox: it is responsible in order to provide torque or speed to a device under gear ratio from arotating power source. In vehicles a gearbox is connected to the crankshaft of the engine. The output of the gearbox is transferred through driveshaft which in order rotates the wheel. Driving wheel: A turbine or a locomotiveà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s pistons drive the driving wheel. It is made of side rods coupling rods. Generally one rod straightly driven by the main rod and it is connected at the end of the piston rod. It is via the side rods, power is transmitted to the others. Axle: It is a main shaft for a gear. The axle is fixed to the wheels which rotates with them or fixed to the surrounding. Before bearing and bushings are provided at the mounting points where the axle is provided and today it resides under the hole of the wheel. The shaft rotates with the wheel. Dianne Christensen-Herman, Transmission and driveline troubleshoot, January 2011 Prepare for analysis and examination: examination procedure is made to meet the motive of the work. Analyzed information on board diagnostic systems is used to identify system performance achievement. To select from the available quantity of choice, diagnostic process, sequence. Tests and testing equipments are made. Important tools and materials are found out in order to support the diagnostic process and are also prepared to use. The components required for the driveline system are prepared which include park-up, isolation and cleaning. Implementing the methodology: the diagnostic course is to be followed with authorized methods and directions. Testing equipments are applied according to the requirements. Various findings found are analyzed and verified by using various processes. The results of the findings are fully examined according to the criteria. Valid and meaningful conclusions are made out of the available findings. Selecting response measure: materials which can be used again are collected and stored for further use. The testing equipments are preserved and taken care of for further use and the waste materials which are not required are put aside or removed from the place of work. According to the workplace procedure, the area and the equipments are cleaned and also inspected. Failure analysis and evaluation criteria are determined in order to rectify the faults and to effect variation in system characteristic. Light vehicles include both two wheelers and four wheelers. Driveline system consists of components like clutch, torque converter, manual transmission, automatic transmission drive shaft and final shaft. Module parts replacement and parts replacement is covered by the diagnostic. Driveline system faults includes abnormal gear wear, abnormal clutch operation, contamination, hard shifting, loose mounting etc. Testing equipments: testing equipments consists of systems like compound level, pressure gauge, millimeters, tachometers, and computerized diagnostic system. Tests are needed to conduct. Various tests included are lubricant inspection, pressure, road testing, sensor integrity and function, solenoid operation, wiring and power control ECU integrity. Information and procedure: Procedures of the work place are to be regulated in order to use the tooling and equipment. Procedures are to be followed for reporting and communication. Component specifications are to be analyzed for testing equipment and material. The design rules ro be followed must be the Australian design. The regulation of the vehicle industry is to be evaluated and regulated. When a constant nature of excitation is transmitted from the engine, the torsion response at various points is to be remained the same under various trails. A variation from the baseline response data is observed due to various minor cracks developed along the driveline. Clutch fault finding: When the clutch cable is broken. When the adjustment in the clutch cable is found incorrect, it is a symptom of clutch faults. Another symptom is that of releasing bearing of a broken clutch Faults also contains such as wrong adjustment of the clutch cable. Excessive clutch silk lining, contaminated clutch disc lining, faulty pressure plate are some other faults Diagnose and Rectify Motor Vehicle And Transmission and Driveline System Faults Gear faults: Liquid leakage: in automotive transmission the color of the liquid is usually deep red. These fluids should not be confused with the main fuel which can easily be transferred to the transmission area via air. Removing the built up dirt is firstly necessary from the transmission area using steam cleaning. Burned smell: it occurs when the engine is turned on at neutral transmission and also when the vehicle moves in neutral format. Driving wheels fault: There can be loose steering gear adjustments. It is than required to be adjusted to its specifications. It can also happen due to steering gear mounting loosen and the remedy for it is tightening of steering gear bolts The steering may sometimes be felt hard to be rotated especially it is observed in power steering and the reason behind is may be due to low tire pressure. Sometimes the wheel bearing may also be loose which must be replaced with the new ones. Drive shaft faults: Worn u-joints slip joint wear, or a faulty center support bearing are mostly the reasons for the noise found in drive shaft. Also grinding from the driveshaft may be caused by worn universal joints. The joint ends up being dry, causing the rollers to wear. Axle fault: It includes improper pinion bearing It also includes excessive gear tooth backlash variation Another fault is the pitch lineout run out And also cocked pinion bearing is a major fault. Homer Rahnejat, Steve Rothberg, multi-body dynamics-monitoring and stimulation techniques. Conclusion: In this projects highlight is made on the different light vehicle driveline system. It projects on how faults may occur and also what are those faults. For some of the unknown faults remedies are suggested. But still instead of trying hard and getting the matter more complicated, a thorough examination or inspection of the vehicleà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s driveline system may help to sort out the problems more easily. A vehicle driveline system faults comprises of the drive shaft and transmission system. Several vehicle problems may take up due these systems and the early detection is very important to avoid heavy expenses. Check the transmission fluid with the help of dipstick. If the insufficient fluid in the transmission is observed, there is a probability of the leak. Determination of the cause is important before making the repair. If the vehicle is making noise while driving, this will indicate that the vehicle is running on low fuel level or dirty transmission fluid or may be clogged. The transmission filter should be changed. carmenlynch170http://www.blogger.com/profile/00500432836215808518noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4354958512235363352.post-51369629115394307252019-11-13T23:10:00.001-08:002019-11-13T23:10:04.542-08:00The Great Gatsby : The American Dream :: essays research papers The Great Gatsby and the 'American Dream' In Francis Scott Fitzgeraldââ¬â¢s The Great Gatsby the concept of the 'American Dream' appears in two ways. Use the following regression output to determine the following: A real estate investor has devised a model to estimate home prices in a new suburban development. Data for a random sample of 100 homes were gathered on the selling price of the home ($ thousands), the home size (square feet), the lot size (thousands of square feet), and the number of bedrooms. The following multiple regression output was generated: Regression Statistics Multiple R 0. 8647 R Square . 7222 Adjusted R Square 0. 6888 Standard Error 16. 0389 Observations 100 Intercept X1 (Square Feet) X2 (Lot Size) X3 (Bedrooms) Coefficients -24. 888 0. 2323 11. 2589 15. 2356 Standard Error 38. 3735 0. 0184 1. 7120 6. 8905 t Stat -0. 7021 9. 3122 4. 3256 3. 2158 P-value 0. 2154 0. 0000 0. 0001 0. 1589 a. Why is the coefficient for BEDROOMS a positive number? The selling price increase when the number of rooms increases. Thus the relationship is positive. b. Which is the most statistically significant variable? What evidence shows this? Most statistically significant variable is one with least p value. Here most statistically significant variable is Square feet. c. Which is the least statistically significant variable? What evidence shows this? Least statistically significant variable is one with high p value. Here least statistically significant variable is bedrooms d. For a 0. 05 level of significance, should any variable be droppe d from this model? Why or why not? The variable bed rooms can be dropped from the model as the p value is greater than 0. 05. e. Interpret the value of R squared? How does this value from the adjusted R squared? The R2 gives the model adequacy. Here R2 suggest that 72. 22% variability can e explained by the model. Adjusted R2 is a modification of R2 that adjusts for the number of explanatory terms in a model. Unlike R2, the adjusted R2 increases only if the new term improves the model more than would be expected by chance. f. Predict the sales price of a 1134-square-foot home with a lot size of 15,400 square feet and 2 bedrooms. Selling Price =-24. 888+0. 02323*1134+11. 2589*15400+15. 2356*2=173419 8 PART III SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE SHORT-ANSWER QUESTIONS. Problem 7 Define Autocorrelation in the following terms: a. In what type of regression is it likely to occur? Regressions involving time series data . What is bad about autocorrelation in a regression? The standard error of the estimat es will high. c. What method is used to determine if it exists? (Think of statistical test to be used) Durbin Watson Statistic is used determine auto correlation in a regression. d. If found in a regression how is it eliminated? Appropriate transformations can be adopted to eliminate auto correlation. Problem 8 Define Multicollinearity in the following terms: a) In what type of regression is it likely to occur? Multicollinearity occurs in multiple regressions when two or more independent variables are highly correlated. ) Why is multicollinearity in a regression a difficulty to be resolved? Multicollinearity in Regression Models is an unacceptably high level of intercorrelation among the independents, such that the effects of the independents cannot be separated. Under multicollinearity, estimates are unbiased but assessments of the relative strength of the explanatory variables and their joint effect are unreliable. c) How can multicollinearity be determined in a regression? Multic ollinearity refers to excessive correlation of the predictor variables. When correlation is excessive (some use the rule of thumb of r > 0. 90), tandard errors of the b and beta coefficients become large, making it difficult or impossible to assess the relative importance of the predictor variables. The measures Tolerance and VIF are commonly used to measure multicollinearity. Tolerance is 1 ââ¬â R2 for the regression of that independent variable on all the other independents, ignoring the dependent. There will be as many tolerance coefficients as there are independents. The higher the inter-correlation of the independents, the more the tolerance will approach zero. As a rule of thumb, if tolerance is less than . 20, a problem with multicollinearity is indicated. When tolerance is close to 0 there is high multicollinearity of that variable with other independents and the b and beta coefficients will be unstable. The more the multicollinearity, the lower the tolerance, the more th e standard error of the regression coefficients. d) If multicollinearity is found in a regression, how is it eliminated? Multicollinearity occurs because two (or more) variables are related ââ¬â they measure essentially the same thing. If one of the variables doesnââ¬â¢t seem logically essential to your model, removing it may reduce or eliminate multicollinearity. carmenlynch170http://www.blogger.com/profile/00500432836215808518noreply@blogger.com0
